The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, July 24, began the screening of ministerial
nominees asking three of them to simply ‘take a bow and go’ since they were
former lawmakers.
Those asked to ‘take a bow and go’ included Godswill Akpabio, a former minority
leader of the senate and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom.
Senator George Akume, who has served in the upper legislative chamber, and was
governor of Benue state, also benefited from the gesture.
The Senate also asked Emeka Nwajuiba, a serving member of the House of
Representatives, who sought to be speaker of the ninth Assembly, was also asked
to bow and go after an introduction and a little address.
However, Uche Ogah, one of the nominees, faced a tough
question and answer session during his screening by the senators.
Among those also on ground for the exercise were Mustapha Shehuri, Ogbonnaya
Onu and Olorunimbe Mamora.
President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier sent a list of nominees for his proposed
cabinet to the Senate.
